Product Overview
The Pipe Nipple is the most common fitting used to extend a pipe run or to provide a connection point for valves and instruments. It consists of a short piece of pipe with male threads on both ends. Depending on your installation requirements, we offer two distinct geometries:
1. Close Nipples (Full Thread)
A Close Nipple is threaded along its entire length. When installed between two female fittings, very little of the nipple remains visible. This is the ideal choice for tight, compact manifolds where the primary goal is to join two components as closely as possible.
2. Barrel Nipples (Unthreaded Center)
A Barrel Nipple (often referred to by its length, e.g., “3-inch Nipple”) features threads at both ends with a smooth, unthreaded section in the middle. This allows for easier handling during installation with a pipe wrench and provides the necessary extension to clear obstructions or reach specific connection points.
Industrial Standards and Strength
Fabricated from Seamless or Welded Stainless Steel Pipe, our nipples match the mechanical properties of your primary pipeline. We stock Schedule 40 for standard applications and Schedule 80 for systems requiring higher pressure ratings or added structural integrity against vibration and corrosive thinning.
