Product Overview
The Hex Nipple is a fundamental fitting used to connect two pieces of equipment or pipe fittings that have female threads of the same or different sizes. Unlike a standard close nipple, the hexagonal center provides a mechanical advantage, allowing the installer to apply a wrench directly to the fitting without damaging the threads.
Wrench-Friendly Installation
The integrated hexagonal “nut” in the middle of the fitting is designed for maximum efficiency. In tight industrial spaces or modular skids, this feature allows for precise torque application, ensuring that the NPT or BSP threads achieve a bubble-tight seal.
High-Pressure Forged vs. Standard Cast
To accommodate different industrial requirements, we offer two distinct performance classes:
-
150# Investment Cast: The standard choice for food processing, water treatment, and low-pressure chemical lines.
-
3000# Forged: A heavy-duty version manufactured to ASME B16.11, designed for high-pressure hydraulic systems, steam distribution, and aggressive chemical processing where safety margins are critical.
Superior Metallurgy
Fabricated from AISI 304 or 316L Stainless Steel, these nipples offer exceptional resistance to environmental corrosion and internal erosion. The 316L variant provides enhanced protection against chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking, making it the industry standard for marine and offshore applications.
