Product Overview
The Hex Plug is a fundamental component used to “plug” or terminate the end of a female threaded pipe fitting, valve, or manifold. Unlike round plugs or square head plugs, the hexagonal design allows for maximum mechanical advantage, ensuring the fitting can be tightened sufficiently to prevent leaks in high-vibration or high-pressure environments.
Reliable Tapered Seal
Our hex plugs utilize precision-machined NPT or BSP tapered threads. When threaded into a matching female port, the wedge-action of the tapered threads creates a metal-to-metal seal. When combined with industrial thread sealants or PTFE tape, these plugs provide a bubble-tight closure that is essential for maintaining system pressure and safety.
Industrial Grade Performance
To suit varying process requirements, we offer two distinct pressure classes:
-
150# Investment Cast: The standard choice for commercial plumbing, food processing, and low-pressure water treatment.
-
3000# Forged: A heavy-duty, high-integrity fitting designed to ASME B16.11 standards. This version is built for high-pressure steam, hydraulic oil, and aggressive chemical processing where wall thickness and metallurgical strength are paramount.
Superior Corrosion Resistance
Fabricated from AISI 304 or 316L Stainless Steel, these plugs are built to survive harsh environments. The 316L variant is particularly suited for chemical refineries and offshore applications where exposure to saltwater or acidic media would cause standard steel plugs to fail.
